About this hotel

Caesius is the rare Lake Garda hotel that gets both halves right: it has a genuine thermal spa fed by an on-site well, and it has a long stretch of private lakefront with a real beach and dock. Most thermal spa hotels are tucked into the hills (no lake); most lakeside hotels have a tiny postage-stamp pool. Caesius has both — and at four-star prices, not Sirmione five-star prices. It’s the east shore’s quiet workhorse for wellness weeks.

Who it’s for

Three audiences fit. Couples who want a wellness week without the Sirmione price tag — the spa is genuinely good, treatments are well priced, and you get lake-side beach time on top. Families with older kids — the property is sprawling enough to occupy teenagers (pool, beach, bikes, kayaks, evening entertainment) and the family rooms actually accommodate four-to-six people without feeling like a dorm. Returning shoulder-season guests — a notable share of guests come back in March, April, October, November when the thermal pools (heated outdoors) come into their own and the lake is quiet.

Rooms

Around 200 rooms, which is large for Lake Garda. Three meaningful tiers. Classic rooms (garden-side, fine but unspectacular). Junior Suites (larger, balcony, partial lake glimpses) — the upgrade most people regret skipping. Family rooms (two-room layouts, sleeping up to six). The recent renovation refreshed most of the property in 2022-2023, so even the classic rooms feel modern; the rare un-renovated rooms are easy to flag if you book direct and ask.

Dining

Half-board is the standard option and is worth taking. The main restaurant L’Aniello does a respectable buffet dinner with a rotating themed station (Veneto night, seafood night, etc.). Olivi is the à la carte upgrade — gluten-free-certified, smaller menu, lighter cooking, costs €20-25 extra per person but is a meaningful step up. The pool-side Castaway is summer-only and good for a lunch you can walk straight back to your sun lounger from. The breakfast spread is one of the better ones we’ve eaten on the east shore — proper coffee, hot dishes, fresh fruit.

What’s nearby

You’re between Bardolino town (10 minutes’ walk along the lakefront promenade) and Lazise (15 minutes by car). Bardolino is where you’ll go for dinner outside the hotel — try Trattoria Da Mario for fresh lake fish. Gardaland is 15 minutes by car and the hotel will arrange skip-the-line tickets at a small discount; the Bardolino wine route is right behind you, with cellars open for tastings between April and October. The east-shore boat dock is in Bardolino centre — twenty-minute walk along the promenade — for ferries to Sirmione, Garda, and Malcesine.

Our honest take

Caesius is not glamorous. It’s a big resort, the dining room is a buffet, the spa is shared with the wellness day-pass crowd at peak times. None of that is hidden in the marketing. But for €165/night including breakfast and access to two thermal pools, a sauna world, and a private beach — there are very few hotels on Lake Garda doing that math. If you want polished and intimate, look elsewhere. If you want a properly-stocked wellness resort at a fair price, this is one of our reliable picks.

Pair it with our things to do guide and the Sirmione day-trip itinerary for a full-week plan from the east shore.
